Updated search experience coming to our Video Cloud media module

We are working on improving our search experience within Video Cloud to make it more effective and efficient for your needs. You can see an overview of what the new experience will look like here! We will be rolling these updates to your Video Cloud account on October 15th. However, in the meantime we will be enabling the new tab for playlists and moving the search box to the right. All of this supports a more modern search experience that gives you greater flexibility and options to sort/filter content, as well as streamlines how they can find what they’re looking for.

If you would like to get access to the fully updated search experience before October 15th, just reach out to your account team and we can get you enabled - We’re very open to feedback as we introduce this new experience so we can ensure that it’s working how you need it to. Additionally, if you have any questions or would like for us to walk you through the updates, please comment below or reach out to your account team to set up a session to discuss with our product team.

Support documentation can be found here.

Thanks, @Megan Felz ! I see we received the updates as of this morning.

One question for you--it used to be possible to collapse the sidebar that shows your folders and playlists (circled in red). I don’t see the handle that used to allow this. Is there a way to collapse that sidebar now, to allow for display of more fields in the video list?

Thank you!

Thanks for your note, Ellice - appreciate the feedback that that’s something you’re looking for! As of right now, this is not possible in the UI, but we are discussing it for future iterations as we will continue to improve the experience based on feedback like this. Please let me know if you have any other comments or questions!

Thanks @Megan Felz! It would be great to allow that panel to be hidden to maximize the amount of information I can see in search results for each video.

I also noticed that if I use the filters, once I click into a video record and then return to search results (whether by browser back button or by “back to videos” at the top of the video record), all the filters reset. It would be great to make these persistent until cleared. 🙂

Thanks, Ellice - this is helpful feedback! We are continuing to assess how we can improve the experience so will make sure this is documented and our product team takes this into consideration in our next phase of development.

Question: I noticed that after the functionality updates to the Video Cloud, I can no longer search for multiple video IDs as before. Is it still possible to search for, say, 100 specific videos at once within my library based on a list of their video IDs? Thanks!

Hi @Jacob Cooper - Appreciate you calling this out as a valuable feature. This is not supported with the current version, however, we’ve taken note with our development team to consider this for future phases!

Hi all,

Thank you to everyone who shared feedback on this new search experience! Based on what we’ve heard and learned over the past 2 weeks, we’ll be rolling back this experience and making some additional adjustments you suggested.

In the meantime, you’ll be able to use the more familiar and pre-existing search experience.
