We are working on improving our search experience within Video Cloud to make it more effective and efficient for your needs. You can see an overview of what the new experience will look like here! We will be rolling these updates to your Video Cloud account on October 15th. However, in the meantime we will be enabling the new tab for playlists and moving the search box to the right. All of this supports a more modern search experience that gives you greater flexibility and options to sort/filter content, as well as streamlines how they can find what they’re looking for. If you would like to get access to the fully updated search experience before October 15th, just reach out to your account team and we can get you enabled - We’re very open to feedback as we introduce this new experience so we can ensure that it’s working how you need it to. Additionally, if you have any questions or would like for us to walk you through the updates, please comment below or reach out to your account team to set up a session to discuss with our product team. Support documentation can be found here.

Community SSO is now live: We're thrilled to announce that you can now access the Bright Spot community with just a click of a button. No more remembering passwords or login details. This is how it works:Click the question mark icon in the top right corner of your Video Cloud StudioA window will open. At the bottom, click Ask the Community. You will be redirected to Bright Spot.  And that’s it, you will be logged into the Bright Spot to start posting your questions. For more information, read the  documentation. Join now and start sharing! Interactivity updates: ​​​​​​iOS and Android SDKs for interactivity: You can now use interactive annotations to increase viewer engagement with your video content on even more devices. The annotations that will be supported for mobile devices include: Image overlay, text overlay, time-triggered action, transparent overlay, fade-in/fade-out transitions, preconditions for dynamic annotations. Third-party lead forms: You can now add third-party lead forms directly to your videos through Video Cloud to further build out viewer data that can fuel pipeline, better personalize experiences, and improve campaigns across marketing and comms teams. Initially supported third-party lead forms include: Salesforce, Hubspot, Eloqua, Marketo, Google Forms, Microsoft Forms. For more information on third-party lead forms, visit our support documentation. Pass viewer ID and engagement data directly into MAP/CRM systems: We’ve updated our MAP/CRM connections with the ability to field viewer IDs and then export them to third-party systems. You can now better identify who is watching your content, build a viewer profile to guide their customer journey with relevant videos, and enhance your campaign strategy to boost conversion potential and build positive brand associations — all within systems you’re already using today. This includes client-side and server-side integrations for: Eloqua, Marketo, Hubspot, Salesforce Sales Cloud, Blueshift, Braze, Sailthru, Segment Node.JS, S3, and Custom S3. We released a new version of our WordPress plugin – v2.8.5. This version includes updates to bug fixes, improved responsiveness with experiences API, and a better labeling experience.It’s not only beneficial to take advantage of the enhancements in this new version, but as of March 31, 2024, Brightcove no longer officially supports WordPress versions below 6.0. If you decide not to upgrade, the WordPress connector will still work, but without official support from Brightcove, experiences may break in the future.Please review our WordPress documentation. Brightcove recently released a major version update to all Gallery templates, and it is mandatory for all Gallery users to upgrade their experiences by September 30, 2024. We will support older versions of the templates until September 30, 2024; however, if you do not upgrade by then, Brightcove will automatically update to this major version starting October 1, 2024. We highly recommend that you upgrade your active Gallery experiences with your team before this date so you can confirm they are functioning correctly with the latest version update. If you do not, you risk formatting and overall design errors, potentially impacting viewer experiences, especially if you make use of heavy customization features such as custom CSS/JS. Steps to update your Gallery experiences can be found here. Note: Moving forward, we are introducing a new policy that once we launch a major release for a Gallery template, we’ll continue to support the older version for six months. As with this version update, if you don’t update within 6 months, you will be automatically upgraded to the newest template version.

We are excited to announce new roles and permissions within Video Cloud. Admins can now assign users five permissions as well as create up to eight permission-based roles that can be assigned to their users.Teams spanning marketing, internal communications, publishing, media, and others all face challenges regarding user management. With enhanced roles and permissions, Admins can confidently and securely manage users, create roles that fit their requirements, and bring more users into the platform to accomplish a broader range of streaming initiatives.The five new permissions include:Edit Video Metadata - Admins enable specific users to update the metadata of their video content. Activate/Deactivate video - Admins may want to limit a user’s ability to activate and deactivate videos within the platform. Delete video - Admins may want to limit the ability to delete videos from the platform. Upload from media module - Admins may want to govern who can upload content to the platform to ensure library discipline/organization. Update your CMS connections: Integrating video with your CMS has many benefits over simply embedding content. Just as each CMS is different and designed for specific use cases, Brightcove CMS connectors are equally unique. The latest Brightcove plugins for Sitecore, AEM, and WordPress make it easier for content managers to give viewers the broadcast experience they expect. Sitecore: The latest Sitecore plugin allows you to activate or deactivate videos in Video Cloud directly from your Sitecore account. Additionally, you can now schedule video content from within Sitecore. Review this documentation to learn how to update your Sitecore plugin. AEM: Brightcove has updated our AEM Connector to improve compatibility with the latest AEM versions (compatible with 6.5.0 and above). These enhancements to our connector provide more flexibility between Brightcove and AEM and offer an overall improved user experience. Review this documentation for instructions for updating your AEM Connector. WordPress: Brightcove has released a new version of our WordPress plugin to keep the connector current with the latest WordPress updates. This new release improves compatibility and delivers quality improvements to stream your content more reliably; it supports WordPress 6.0 and above. By the end of March 2024, we will no longer officially support any WordPress versions below 6.0. If you decide not to upgrade, the WordPress connector will still work, but please be aware that Brightcove will stop officially supporting versions below 6.0. A new enhancement being rolled out to live customers is a major enhancement to the Media Studio Cloud Playout scheduler.  Cloud Playout enables users to traffic a collection of assets into a live linear channel.  Linear channel experiences are increasingly popular with viewers who may be suffering “VOD fatigue” and enable programmers to promote and monetize engaging assets in a ‘lean back’ live channel experience. The new Cloud Playout scheduler provides an intuitive calendar view, making it easy to see how your programs fit along the linear timeline.  Gaps in the program schedule can be easily filled with controls for ad break frequency and duration, and conflicts are identified and resolved with a single click, retiming the schedule automatically. Ad Insights is a new feature, available to Media Studio Premium and Ad Monetization Service customers for free.  The new feature of Media Studio Analytics automatically correlates ad frequency and duration with viewer engagement.  Easily measure how changes to ad intensity influence viewer behavior based on device, region, content type and more, and optimize ad placement to maximize audience engagement by testing how different ad placement strategies yield better performance. Read more here.
