“VPN/Proxy detection is enabled by default when geo-filtering is activated”

Clarifying question - does this mean that when we have geofiltering enabled and we are only allowing US playback rights that if someone is living in Spain and has VPN set to America that Brightcove can detect this VPN use and block playback?

Hi, Caroline,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Yes, with the use of a VPN a user from a country that is not whitelisted can access, but depending on the IP that the VPN is using to connect.

At this point, and based on my experience, we can offer ways to prevent this, but I would like to suggest opening a support ticket (bc_support@brightcove.com) to give you more details and understand your user case.

I hope you can find this information useful, and wishing you an excellent day.
