  1. Why is Brightcove launching a new live streaming solution (Live 2.0)?

Answer:  Brightcove is excited to launch our next generation of live streaming capabilities.  Brightcove is committed to delivering a best-in-class live streaming solution trusted by our customers around the world to reliably deliver the highest quality live video experiences to their viewers.  Our new Live 2.0 solution unlocks key new features, enhanced streaming resilience, faster scaling and higher quality streams that we will be rolling out over the first several months of 2025.

  1. Why is Brightcove migrating my account to the Live 2.0 solution?

Answer:  It is important that all existing customers leveraging the Brightcove Live solution migrate to the latest version.  Our Live 2.0 solution is where we will be launching all new capabilities and service updates moving forward.  For our current customers, we are carefully evaluating their current configurations and working closely with our customers and customer success teams to ensure that we provide a smooth transition to help get them migrated.

  1. How will my account be migrated?

Answer:  As Brightcove Live 2.0 is released over the next few months, Brightcove will facilitate a number of steps to ensure that our customers are migrated smoothly with as little disruption to existing live channels and events as possible.  There will be direct communications for impacted customers, providing a notice that their account will be migrated within a specific timeframe.  These comms will be in the form of direct e-mail outreach from Brightcove.  The migration will consist of the following steps:

  • Step 1:  Clone Existing Jobs
    • In the background, Brightcove will clone your existing jobs to our Live2.0 infrastructure
    • This process will have no impact on your existing jobs or their performance
    • You will receive an email confirming completion and setting your Cutover Target Date (a 10 day testing period is typically provisioned to allow for full configuration testing)
  • Step 2:  Testing of your Live 2.0 Environment
    • Connect your contribution encoders to your new Live2.0 infrastructure and view the output to confirm quality
    • If you utilize different types of encoders for different live events, please test each individually
    • Route any questions or issues through Brightcove Tech Support
  • Step 3: Cutover Production
    • Once you have adequately tested Live2.0 with your own encoding solution, update your Production usage to point at your Live2.0 endpoints
    • If you need any help updating your Production usage, please reach to Brightcove Tech Support
    • Access to original jobs will be terminated as of your Cutover Target Date
